Why? were approved in the first place? There? Always a "chaser" dell'ambulanza; lawyer with the melodramatic commecials regarding this.

It’s all about the money, not about saving lives or causing/preventing harm/pain.
Because the FDA does not look at the long term side effects of drugs. They try to find some sort of drug that will harm people 20-25 years down the road to get people off their backs about making a drug to fix something. Then while the harmful drug is out there it gives them time to develop a safer drug that will help people safely. Its a screwed up system of interest groups and lobyists that control that B.S.
It seems to me that the FDA is far more likely to approve drugs than the USDA was. Plus, pharmeceutical companies are cranking them out like there’s no tomorrow.
They want to make lots of money by using us as guinea pigs.
The patients are clearly informed of the patients are clearly informed of the risks before choosing treatment.
Good question! I’d think the FDA would always be cautious and NOT approve if there were any doubt.
But people do clamor for new drugs, and sometimes there’s a lot of pressure to approve.
And not all side effects are found in clinical trials. Past a certain point, risks must be estimated.
I know a lot of people said Vioxx worked great, and they wish they could still get it. Maybe the risk is lower than we’ve been told. I don’t know.
