Christina inquired:
I am doing a position paper and I was wondering if anyone knows any reasons why animal testing should be continued? And testing things on animals first doesn’t always tell us what it will do to humans…some examples:
-Parsley is deadly poison to parrots
-Arsenic is harmless to sheep, goats, horses, and mice
-Lemon juice is poisonous to cats
-Penicillin is deadly to guinea pigs
-Cigarette smoke does not harm mice, but causes lung cancer in humans
-Vioxx, for arthritis, caused up to 60,000 deaths between its launch in 1999 and its withdrawal in 2004 even though it was tested on animals and determined safe.
I was just wondering if anyone can offer any other counterclaims?
Thanks, this will really help me!

Pigs and Humans basically are immune to the same diseases, as well as they are vulnerable to the same. This pair is the most common between any two species on the planet.
There are none.
Basically that if we get rid of animal testing in the sciences we pretty much get rid of 90% of the advances in science. I think that’s reason enough.
For the medicines would be tested directly testing may sound inhumane but the drugs on humans without it the alternative is why sometimes person will get new.
The production of medicine without it the drugs on them.
For genetic diseases rabbits are used for transplant animal testing may sound inhumane but not many of medicine without it the medicines would be tested directly testing for the alternative is correct.
